Slumdog Millionaire

An enjoyable film although I'm surprised it did quite so well at the Golden Globes. It's a straightforward romantic feelgood, a movie which - by virtue of its Indian setting - one might charaterise as 'a Primark suit with a turmeric-bright lining'. If you've seen your fair share of Who Want To Be A Millionaire, Slumdog Millionaire holds few surprises.

UPDATE: It appears that the momentum of the Golden Globe wins carries on in the London Evening Standard award nominations. Well, good luck to them. For all that Slumdog Millionaire might not be a masterpiece of any kind, it's certainly an enjoyable picture and Danny Boyle is a consistent, gracious director fully deserving of critical and public recognition.
