Jarmusch's Limits of Control

Tonight I braved the Vue Leicester Square for the third time (much better, thanks) to see Jim Jarmusch's latest film, The Limits of Control. This is the mainstay of a film festival I always think - not a glitzy matinee guaranteed to draw the crowds, nor a worthy debut or experimental feature giving the whole thing a shot in the arm, but an established name making considered films in their unique vernacular which challenge everything from genre to convention... yes, and sometimes even patience.

John Hurt, introducing the film, was asked what brought him on board. 'Oh well,' he said, 'if Jim calls you just ask "where?" and "when?"'. Eugenio Caballero, the production designer was asked about the production process and revealed that it was utterly organic: 'we were experimenting right up to the last shot'.
