Naturally, the exposure that this verisleb show generates will quickly become ripe for commercial exploitation. It seems almost inconceivable that those involved will take part without using their participation in order to sell something at some stage.
Today's discovery is that one of the judges, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is also promoting another new show concurrently with Popstar To Operastar called The Next Big Thing, which is looking for new interior designer talent. It's ironic that Llewelyn-Bowen is participating in poptoopera on the basis of his work as a Classic FM DJ but, rather than use the opportunity to promote that fact, chooses to publicise his genuine specialism and talent in a totally unrelated field. It's the strangely inverted version of a declaration of interest - maybe 'a declaration of disinterest'?
